Crafts & Things

Our Story:

What is now Crafts & Things began life two centuries ago as a humble byre (cattle shed) which eventually fell into ruin. However, the Cooper family recently relocated from Crieff, saw potential in the derelict building and rebuilt it. They opened their doors in May 1969 with a small shop called ‘Antiques and Crafts’, which later became the ‘Crafts & Things’ we know today.

Eldest son David, together with Kshema maintained the gift shop and expanded the venture to include the Coffee Shop in 1990. Supported by a dedicated team of passionate staff, they spent the next 40 years ensuring Crafts & Things remained an inviting meeting place for visitors and locals alike. The business has always been deeply rooted in the local community, proudly supporting community events and fundraising efforts, particularly for Glencoe Mountain Rescue.

Crafts & Things has remained a family business throughout its journey. When David and Kshema decided to retire, a new chapter began as the Dewey family took over in 2025, bringing fresh energy while also preserving the traditional character Crafts & Things is known and loved for.

For nearly six decades, visitors have created memories at Crafts & Things. A long history in the area, built on friendly service, delicious food, and great gifts – many of which are locally made in Scotland – has cemented Crafts & Things as an integral part of Glencoe’s landscape, a must-stop on a trip to the Scottish Highlands. Come stop in for a warm cup of tea and homemade cake, or discover the perfect treasure in our gift shop.
